I’ve been poking at a small side project: a website for trekking routes. Nothing ambitious yet — just an itch to put my own hikes somewhere better than a folder of screenshots, and an excuse to try a few ideas I’ve been curious about.
I won’t pretend this is a steady effort. It’s the kind of project I pick up hard for a weekend, push forward, feel good about, and then don’t touch for three weeks because work or an actual hike gets in the way. Then I come back, half-remember what I was doing, and start again from a slightly different angle.
So far the one concrete piece is parsing the route files themselves — getting that right without losing my mind over edge cases. Everything else is still loose: how to show a route, what’s worth keeping, what’s just noise. I’m testing ideas, throwing most of them away, and keeping the two or three that still make sense a week later.
Nothing here is production-shaped. It’s closer to a notebook than a product.
I’m writing this down mostly so future-me has a record of where this stood, given how likely it is that the next update comes long after this one. If it ever turns into something worth showing, it’ll show up here.
